The fight is over! Manny Pacquiao won by TKO against David Diaz at Round 9. Manny Pacquiao will move to the next level - 140 lbs, to beat the British Pride Ricky Hatton.

NEWS UPDATE NOVEMBER 2008:

Last June 29, 2008 it was rumored that Hatton will be the one to face Pacquiao but after a confirmation that was made last September 2008, Oscar ‘the Golden Boy” De la Hoya is Pacman’s next opponent. December 6 is the scheduled fight for De La Hoya vs. Pacquiao. The winner in this match will face Ricky Hatton on 2009.

This is the much awaited fight for Pacquiao. Pacquiao have reached the Lightweight Division and the whole world were going to watch this fight. WHO IS DAVID DIAZ?

David Diaz is the current WBC Lightweight Champion. David Diaz have won the interim title fight with Jose Armando Sta. Cruz. Joel Casamayor, the champion at that time, failed to make the required weight in this division in his fight with Diego Corrales. So that’s why the Lightweight Title was awarded to Diaz. Diaz have defeated the legendary Eric Morales last August 4, 2007 in his title defense. And recently, March 15,2008, he defeated Ramon Montano.

Manny Pacquiao is the so-called “People’s Champion”. He is the famous Filipino boxer who got 3 title in 3 boxing divisions. Pacquiao have catch the world’s attention when he defeated the legendary Marco Antonio Barrera. David Diaz, Pacquiao’s next opponent and the Lightweight titleholder, is not afraid of Pacquiao’s strength. Diaz camp is confident because Lightweight is already beyond Pacquiao’s field. They said that Pacquiao’s weight would not even scare them because they can still visualize Pacquiao as a Super Featherweight man who has no edge on the Lightweight field. According to rumors, instead of fright, Diaz is excited for their fight because if he can win over Pacquiao, he will be more popular. Diaz is really preparing for his fight because this fight does not only for title but also for fame. He knows how popular Pacquiao is. Because of Pacquiao’s popularity, every fight that he have costs millions of dollars. That’s why Diaz cannot wait to defeat Pacquiao.

*PACQUIAO FOR LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE

Pacquiao seems to be ready on his fight with Diaz. According to Pacquiao’s camp, Pacquiao have 12 rounds sparring this day. Pacquiao doesn’t seemed to be Super Featherweight Champion anymore but the future Lightweight Champion now. Pacquiao is really in good shape. His body is well-conditioned and his body is well-figured. He gains weight but this change makes him more sturdy and strong. Pacquiao have undergone so many tough preparations because they expected for a knock out win over Diaz to win the title. A knock out win would give him the title and they are not relying for judges’ scorecards because they are not sure if they can win on the judges’ decisions.
