Oscar “The Golden Boy” De La Hoya is known to be the richest fighter will be going back to his hometown in Los Angeles to fight with Steve Forbes. That’s why the event was entitled: “HOMECOMING”. Steve Forbes is a 31 year-old boxer and was the former IBF and USBA Super Feather Weight Champion. The boxing event will be on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 10:00 pm ET/7:00 pm PT at the Home Depot Center. The Home Depot Center is a 27,000 seat soccer stadium.

WHO IS OSCAR DE LA HOYA?

Oscar De La Hoya is a Mexican-American boxer and said to be the most good looking boxer in the ring. He started to learn boxing when he was 6 years old because he came from a boxing family, boxing seems to be his game. The family never thought that he will be a fighter someday. The family pushed him to go to gym to take a practice. De La hoya took his practice everyday because of the lump of money that he will receive from his family members. De La hoya’s first boxing test is the Barcelona Olympic Games where he won the gold medal for the United States Boxing Team. It was very emotional moment because he really dedicated the fight for his ailing mother. He raise the flag of U.S on his left hand and on the right hand, the Mexican flag.

Before the fight, at the Presscon, the President of A.E.G who owns the Staples Center presented De La Hoya with a Bronze Statue Of Oscar. This Bronze Statue of Oscar will be displayed in front of the center. It is said that the will be the same size of Magic Johnson’s Bronze Statue which was already.

WHO IS STEVE FORBES?

Steve Forbes was born Stephen Felipe Forbes and was known as “2 pounds” because he was born weighing only 2 lbs. He was the crowds’ favorite in the ESPN Reality Show, The Contender Season 2″.

This time, Floyd Mayweather Sr. will be back as Oscar’s Head Trainer after Oscar take Freddie Roach as head trainer in his last fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. On the other hand, Steve Forbes head trainer will be Jeff Mayweather, brother of Floyd Mayweather Sr.

This boxing event will be a sure hit and it was really highly anticipated by the boxing fans. We didn’t know if De La Hoya will be a sure winner in this fight because Steve Forbes was not yet been knock down in his entire boxing history.

As of now it is said that De La Hoya’s last two fights will be his rematch with Floyd Mayweather in September and Cotto and after that he will take his retirement.
