Charice Pempengco (real name : Charmaine Clarice Pempengco ) was born on May 10, 1993. Charice was first discovered in Little Big Star way back 2005. She was eliminated at first try but she was picked up to the wild card competition. She got to the finals but didn’t win the grand prize. Sam Concepcion, Little Big Star finalist as well, got the grand prize.


Everyone believes that, that will be the end of her dreams, though many people really admired her powerful voice. Many have questioned the judges’ decision. Obviously, Sam already have the star quality, but many said that Charice really got the voice of a true champion.

Until June 2007, Charice caught the attention of TEN SONGS PRODUCTION, a record company based on Stockholm, Sweden. That is her first flight and said to be the first time that she was separated to her mother because of job offers. The record company have seen her videos uploaded in youtube. The record company was amazed that she was even compared to Bianca Ryan, America’s Got Talent finalist. The record company saw how Charice videos attracted thousands to millions of YouTube viewers. And because of that, the record company contacted her to have a contract in YouTube.

 

In October 13, 2007, Charice got an invitation from South Korea to perform on a talent show named “Starking”. Many Koreans were impressed to her superb singing talent that it reaches the TV Network E! which featured her performance in “Starking”.

 

November 2 of the same year she was invited to “Ellen DeGeneres Show”. Ellen gave Charice new IPOD because Charice lost her IPOD on the way to U.S. Charice cried. She cannot believe that Ellen Degeneres was giving her an IPOD. She didn’t ever imagine that Ellen would know about her lost IPOD. Ellen with the American audience, was really amazed of her powerful voice!

Right now, at her very young age, it was not avoided to compare her to Sarah Geronimo who is well-known singer as well that became a millionaire and a great endorser because of her powerful voice. Some were thinking if Sarah envied her because she doesn’t have such offers from other countries, most specially when Charice was invited to Celine Dion’s concert. Sarah admires Celine Dion, everybody knows that. But Charice got the chance of singing with Celine Dion. I am sad as well, because I know that Sarah is also a great singer in the Philippines and her fame also reached here in our small community in Japan. But I guess, Charice is just a very lucky girl. She is always invited by America’s famous network stations and notable singers. Just last week, she appeared in Good Morning America. Well, what can we say? It’s her glorious years right now that no one ever imagine that a young girl from Philippines could make the world vowed because of the golden voice she had.
