We have 4 wireless standards right now: Wireless-A (802.11a), Wireless –B (802.11b), Wireless –G (802.11g), and Wireless-N (802.11n). In terms of frequency, 802.11a operates at 5Ghz, 802.11 b/g operates at 2.4Ghz, and 802.11n. In terms of speed, 802.11a/g can transmit at speed of 54 mbps while 802.11b is at 11mpbs only.

WIRELESS –G ROUTERS:

WRT54G ( Wireless-G Broadband Router )

It is the widely used wireless router most especially here in Asia. This router is usually use at home and in small office. It is a 4-port switch and a Wireless G (802.11g) Access Point). Since it is Wireless –G, it can transmit data up to 54 mbps and is interoperable with Wireless –B standard. You can wire 4 PCs directly to its Ethernet port and at the same time you can connect 21 PCs wirelessly. When in terms of security, it has WPA (Wi-fi Protected Access), wireless MAC address filtering, and powerful SPI firewall.



WRT54GS (Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster )

It is somewhat similar to WRT54G but it is 35% more enhanced when in terms of network performance. There is an improved speed when you’re running a mixed network (802.11b/g). Speedbooster technology is a compatible add-on feature on Wireless-G standard. When in terms of security, it has WPA2(Wi-Fi Protected Access 2), wireless MAC address filtering, 802.11x, and powerful SPI firewall.

WRT54GC ( Compact Wireless-G Broadband Router )

WRT54GC as the name implies has compact form which is suitable for travel. When in terms of security, it has WPA/WPA2, wireless MAC address filtering, and powerful SPI firewall. It functions the same way as WRT54G.

WRT54GX ( Wireless-G Broadband Router with SRX )

It is another wireless router with 4-port Switch, a built in speed and range enhanced Wireless-G (802.11g) Access Point. This router can be use to mix Wireless-B/G and other SRX devices. Because of this SRX technology, it is 8 times faster than standard Wireless-G. Not only the speed, but this router also increases the wireless range up to 3 times than standard Wireless –G. It has MIMO (Multiple In, Multiple Out) technology which doubles the data rate. Like WRT54G and WRT54GS, you can connect 4 PCs directly to its Ethernet port and can connect up to 21 PCs wirelessly.

WRT54GX2 ( Wireless-G Broadband Router with SRX200 )

WRT54GX2 is just like WRT54GX which has SRX technology. They both have MIMO technology as well. WRT54GX2 is 6 times faster than standard Wireless –G and it increases wireless range up to twice as far.

WRT54GX4 (Wireless-G Broadband Router with SRX400 )

It is another SRX router which functions the same way as WRT54GX2 and WRT54GX. This router is 10 times faster than standard Wireless –G and increases wireless range up to 3 times.

WRT54GR (Wireless-G Broadband Router with RangeBooster )

It has Rangebooster technology which gives a great improvement on wireless range. It increases wireless ranges up to two times and will give you 35% throughput.

WRT54GL (Wireless-G Broadband Router )

It has SecureEasySetupo button which makes it easy to configure wireless security. It has TKIP and AES encryption, wireless MAC address filtering, and powerful SPI firewall.

WRTSL54GS (Wireless-G Media Storage Link Router with SpeedBooster )

It is another Wireless –G router which includes torage Link and has built-in media server. It connects hard drive or flash drive (USB) devices directly to your network to share music, videos, or files over the internet. The built-in Media server streams music, videos, and photos from attached storage device to any plug-and-play adapter.

WRV54G (Wireless-G VPN Broadband Router )

It is a linksys router; a switch and access point all in one the same with all other wireless router but has a VPN capability. You can connect 50 remote or traveling users to your office network.

WRV200 (Wireless-G VPN Router with RangeBooster )

It is just like WRV54G but has Rangebooster which increases the wireless range. It has SNMP feature which give you the ability to remotely managed and monitor the device. It has multiple SSID and VLANs for traffic separation and improved QoS for good quality of video and voice.

WRT54G3G (

Allows you to share Vodafone 3G service wirelessly and can also work concurrently with regular broadband services. The big difference of this router to any other Linksys wireless router is that there is a card slot on its side. This is where the router will accept a Vodafone Wireless Mobile card with a Vodafone 3G SIM card securely embedded in it.

WRT300N (Wireless-N Broadband Router)

It is Wireless –N router which has speed rate up to 12 times faster than Wireless-G. It is backward compatible with Wireless –B and Wireless –G devices. It has 4-port switch which can connect 4PCs directly. In terms of security, it gives 256 bit encryption to protect your PC from Internet treats.

WRT150N (Wireless-N Home Router )

It is another Wireless –N router which has speed rate up to 9 times faster than Wireless –G. It is just like any other Wireless –N router but it includes the new enhanced RangePlus internal antenna technology.

WRT160N ( Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N Broadband Router )

It is just like any other Wireless –N router but it includes the new enhanced RangePlus internal antenna technology.
