I just went back home today.
It’s been 5 days of rigid work… Now, I’m back at home to be with my family this New Year’s Day.
I was knocking on the door but it seems that no one wanted to open the door. I can still see the lights and I knew at that moment that my family is still awake.
My older sister opened the door and said, “Mac doesn’t want to open the door..” Mac is my younger brother and I saw him in the sala pretending that he was sleeping.
My father didn’t leave a viand for me for they thought that I have already ate my dinner at a certain fastfood, which is true….But I felt a little bit hungry. My mom bought me a snack and then I took my medicine. After few minutes I saw my father sleeping in my bed. And then suddenly his phone’s message tone. I looked at the message. Lucia: “Meet us at the _______. Then we will leave…” Lucia is one of my father’s sister and at that moment I really don’t know what’s happening. I was just playing “bomberman” when my mother shouted to my father. I just stopped for awhile and listened to them. My father wanted to go with his sister Lucia. I was just wondering why. My mom was really angry and didn’t want my father to go with his sister. “Kinda weird..” Then I just continue playing. My mother told my father that once he leave our house she will not be with us on New Year’s Eve. Well, for me it’s natural. My mom doesn’t really want my father to go outside the house most specially if it is alreay late at night. My mom always said that line everytime my father wanted to go away for awhile ( not really leaving us but you know sometimes going to his sisters’ house, going to billiard hall, and etc.). My father is explaining but my mother went to my room and hardly closed the door. “Oh my God…I was killed by my own bomb,” I murmured…I was looking at my mom and then ignored them. Then my mom went outside the house to look for my younger brother. Because at that moment we heard a loud gun shot. I heard my neighbors screaming and said that police is chasing for “Marijuana boys”. “Here we go again,” I said. I was a bit nervous because it may happen that policement and those bad guys from the other road might came across our street. My mother cannot find my younger brother. My mom went back and said to me that if it happens that those policemen went across our street, I should lie down on the floor. Well, at that moment I was thinking of hiding in the comfort room. “Ok, stay calm Kathy…you haven’t won any single round…” My mom went outside again to look for my younger brother. I was still sitting playing my “bomberman game” when my father opened the door and asked for money. My father is not working anymore because of pain on his knees. “Arthritis” as what they said. He cannot move or walked too much. He still can walk but you know he walks slow. My mom was angry so he cannot really get any amount of money from her. I gave him money and then suddenly we heard our mom. My father said, “Hurry up…your mom might see me asking for a money.” And then he went away.

2 hours had passed… I still can’t win on this bomberman game. My brother was sleeping. And my mother is lying on my bed and she said, “When your father knocked at the door, don’t opened it.” I asked why. My mother then said that my father went to see his sister Lucia because his other sister Rosita was at the I.Q.  because of tuberculosis. My mom said that my father might have carried the virus from the hospital to us and she was worrying that we might get infected. I said, “doctors knew that Tuberculosis is contagious disease…they knew that and they will not just let Aunt Rosita’s visitors to be there by her side if it is not safe.” I suddenly became worried… “Doctors can cure tuberculosis right? It is easy to cure this present time. It will just take for 6 months of medication to completely eliminate the virus right?” My mom then replied that Aunt Rosita’ tuberculosis is getting worse. She said that just yesterday they rushed Aunt Rosita in the hospital because she can’t breathe. Then I told her that she should not have stopped father from going to the hospital. “My father was trying to be there because he doesn’t want to let it happened again. Father was not able to speak with Ade(Ade is my older brother) before he died.”  I knocked on the wood, hoping that it will not happen. “Your father is there at the time Ade was brought at the hospital,” my mother replied. “Yes, he was there…but Ade is already dead when he arrived at the hospital..”

One hour had passed…I’m still playing. I heard my father knocking on the door. My mom heard him as well but she is not really going to open the door for him. I stood up and opened the door. My father said, “Rosita is dead.” My father was angry to my mom.

I went back to the my seat and continue playing bomberman. I told to my mom that Aunt Rosita is dead. But my mom thought it was just a joke. My mom went out in my room and talked to my father. I can hear my father scolding mom. My mom was shocked and she was explaining that she never thought that. She thought that father could still see her at the hospital the next day.

I was playing bomberman when tears fell down on my face. I recall the day when Ade passed away. I recall Aunt Rosita. My father really like Aunt Rosita. She is her eldest sister and the one who always give what he always wanted. Aunt Rosita was scanned for tuberculosis so many months ago. I recall the day when Ade died, Aunt Rosita said to us that there was a water in her lungs and she said that she will not undergo on that medication because the doctor said that they will insert two big needles on her throat. I don’t know exactly what she meant that time. But I know she was talking about the doctor’s equipment. She said that time, that she will not undergo on that procedure because she was afraid. I also recall that my mom told her to undergo on that procedure so that she will be alright but my Aunt just told us that she is just ok. The sad thing here is that her husband is suffering from comatose. Half of his body is not moving anymore. Ade also took care of Uncle aside from Aunt Rosita during the time that he was still here on Earth. Now that Aunt Rosita was also gone, how could father and the rest of his family tell to Uncle that his wife is already dead. Uncle can still feel and can still hear us. He also knew the day when Ade left us even though we tried to hide it from him. And I know that he knows that Aunt Rosita was not here anymore.

7 A.M in the morning - I am still awake.. today is New Year’s Eve…But this will be a different New Year’s Eve for us. I just wish Jesus didn’t take her away from us this day.
